If you know children who want to improve their command of French, you may be interested in this great collection of bilingual books for the young. Ediions Talents Hauts have developed a concept of children's books, for different ages, written in French and English.
I am lucky enough to have been chosen to write for the 8-11 age bracket. My stories centre around a young boy called Sam, whose parents travel a great deal. As Sam and his family find themselves living in different countries, he has to adapt to new situations, with or without the help of adults.
In A Night In the Refuge, Sam finds himself lost on a school ski trip in America. Thanks to tips he learnt from an adventure book he was given for Christmas, Sam manages to call for help and he and his friend are rescued.
In The Football Shirt, Sam is at school in London. As he tries to settle in to the new school and make friends, he find himself picked on by an older boy, jealous of Sam. Sam is unhappy, but that doesn't stop him helping the bully who has a bike accident. Sam's good nature shines through, the bully realises he was wrong to create trouble, and a new friendship is formed.
