some vintage decorating and a calmer mood

Thank you for all the kind emails after my 'headless chicken' post yesterday.  Today I am glad to say that the panic is over and all is calm and happy here!

Check:
Shopping .... all done
Gifts .... almost all wrapped
House .... tidy and decorated
Baking ....  well underway

This evening there will be more friends here for dinner, everyone eager to get into the holiday spirit ... sometimes I think that I love the lead up to christmas more than the actual christmas day!

Just sharing a couple of not very satisfactory pictures of a mantelpiece decor.  It looks better in real life, but you'll have to take my word on that!

So happy to have found these old enamel letters, and I found that the best way of standing them up was leaning against vintage creamware jugs, so that sorted the colour scheme for me!

If you have a moment to stop by tomorrow, Gibson and Ghetto have prepared something special for you that I think you may enjouy ...

à demain and enjoy this festive weekend!

  8. That's a very generous offer, Sharon! Just a lick from each of your dogs would be heaven to me! They are adorable.

Your mantle looks inviting and au courant with the white tufts! I might change a centerpiece I was planning on taking to a réveillon tomorrow night and turn it into the pinecone garland with bows, instead! Merci for the suggestion!

Just curious, which tree or trees did you finally select for your invites?

  10. I think we can all relate to the 'headless chicken' comment in the lead up to Christmas. Have had a couple of parties in our house and a hectic week last week in the preparing, but now it's just cooking and fun with friends and family - it will all somehow manage to get done! Have a wonderful Christmas! Jennifer x
