christmas at the château de moissac

I have shown you pictures of the château de Moissac before.  I have a special affection for this beautiful home because I often visit friends at Moissac and have heard much about the amazing renovation of the château.

And how lovely to see it in the mood for Christmas.

The decoration and festivities are simply beautiful and also tie in perfectly with the provencal traditions surrounding Christmas.  Provençal symbols such as the olive tree are found in  branches and food;

 there are truffles since this region is known for them;

and of course the important 13 Provençal desserts are at the table;

But the real magic is in the fabulous décor and dimension of this 18th century bastide.  The high ceilings, the perfect light and subtle colours.  I really don't know a more beautiful château in France.

And finally a reminder of what Christmas is all about, the traditional 'creche' or nativity scene, played out here in beautiful plain white figurines and even a baby Jesus.

  10. Thank you for telling why we celebrate at Christmas time. Merry Christmas means Mary Christ Mass. If we keep it Sacred and Holy and Prayerful and Grateful and give gifts to the Christ Child instead of this commercialized world we too can make a difference. Love the way this family present Christmas and the Creche scene is at the center. (not man) Bless them and bless you for this post. Any house can be a house but your friends have made it a HOME.
    Joyfully & prayerfully,

  11. I'm trying to find peace in my heart with the sweet face of the baby Jesus but we are still shell-shocked here in the U.S. We're not the same; never can be again after this unspeakable tragedy in Connecticut. No one is unaffected. Peace. Just trying to find peace right now in mind, body, soul. I'll try to replace what's in my head with your beautiful, healing images here. Thank you.
