the giverny loot shoot

 Yup, Giverny is where I went to shop today, the fair started in the streets before dawn and I was there, flash light in hand, looking for goodies. and when the sun came up and I needed a pause from brocante I slipped into the gardens of the impressionist museum and immersed myself into my favourite 'white garden'.

Here are a few things I saw at the fair but didn't buy, that includes the little pup above, he was so cute, tied up to a vendors chair, but really really wanting to trot down the street after us!

 And here is what I did bring home, pharmacy bottles, unused old linen; a cool leather postman's satchel;  a silver plate water pitcher;.............

 a length of unused dishcloth fabric, dated and perfect for a table runner;

this perfect sized bottle dryer, that I actually found for a friend visiting from Australia;
and behind it the most amazing roll of 19th century wall paper....

this wallpaper is rather wonderful - scratching my tiny brain for ways to use  - what would you do with it?

more white flowers when the going got tough!

 the sweetest egg carrier;

 a pile of old school books and notes from biology lessons, dated 1903!

I have my favourite out of this lot, but tell me please, which is yours?!

  2. What? Are you trying to tell me that you DIDN'T buy the plastic kitty with the orange belly and the day-glo green eyes? Well, I never... ;)

    Choosing a favorite is very hard because I would really like to use that leather satchel but I am fascinated by the notebooks and the delightful egg carrier!!

  8. Hmmm, hard to pick! The length of dishcloth and the little egg carrier I think. The bottles are pretty neat.

    What a double treat, brocanting in Giverny! I can't think of a better way to take a break than meandering in Monet's gardens! You're very lucky!

  10. How great for you to be in Giverny for your brocante morning loot shoot. My choice would be the runner linen cloth, followed in close 2nd position by the cute little egg carrier. Looks like you had a find.

  11. Hi Sharon: Oh, I wish I had known about this! We were wondering what to do today and ended up at Vanves. The shopping was ok, but nothing like Giverny! I love antique wallpaper: and, I would take large pieces of them and frame. Maybe do a collection of three or four? Wonderful wall decor!

  15. What a great find of so many treasures. I Love the blue & white soup terrine.
    The wallpaper could be used to line the back of a open shelf cabinet or I would put it under a glass sheet on a side table or coffee table. You did leave behind a stool at the fair though that I would have snatched up ( well it looked interesting in the photo).
    Have a great week

    As for the wallpaper either paper the back of exposed shelving in an armoire or frame pieces of it and display as art ... truly a fabulous find. happy Sunday xo HHL

  33. Such wonderful finds. I love the bottles but my favourite has to be that wallpaper. You could get a pretty penny selling it but I think you should line the back of a kitchen cupboard with it and use some contrasting Annie Sloan paint to finish the project. What are your plans for it?
