The past fortnight has been extremely fun and extremely busy. So when my last guests for the week left this morning I had no trouble refusing an invitation to ride with my daughter and a friend. Those of you who ride will understand. Get into that saddle and you just forget about your list of things to do, fatigue disappears and it's just you and the horse.
Some rather weird pictures I know, but I just popped a mini camera into a saddle bag, and clicked as we slowly padded our way along the beech tree lined alleys. Chatting about nothing in particular, laughing at hopeless jokes, making extravagant plans ... girl talk. I even attempted a video, but the screen moved around so much with the rhythm of the horse walking that it would have made you sea-sick!
And finally for those of you who have been kind enough to ask about Quick's progress after his fracture. The vet gave us a thumbs up yesterday, and his re-education will now start, with daily walks and one happy girl on his back!

It looks like a lovely day!!
ReplyDeleteI felt peaceful just looking at your pictures! Your horses are just beautiful!

What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I used to ride too when we were living in the Philippines. I am glad that Quick has recovered and will begin therapy soon.
ReplyDeleteAh, I haven't ridden in a few years so your images of your beautiful girls and horses was almost like being back in the saddle on a lovely day! Thanks so much for taking us all along!
ReplyDeleteI rode with my daughter today too a beautiful day in bucks county Pennsylvania nothing like it glad you had fun too!!
ReplyDeleteJenny, my mother-in-law died 1995 (breast cancer), is in this story, pics on horses.
ReplyDeleteI don't ride. Miss her incredibly, you gave me a taste of her. Her laugh, face, even old 'Dan' (Tennessee Walker), now gone too.
XO T
Happy to hear Quick's fracture is finally healed and soon will be back to his old self. My paternal grandpa had a farm with horses and he taught me how to ride. I love the feeling of freedom being on horseback, and gauging the energy and mood of the horse whether to let it canter, walk or just wonder slowly on the trails. When you love animals and treat them right, you get back what you give and more.
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome...riding is great but riding in the French countryside....doesnt' get better!
ReplyDeleteI'm green with envy! What a perfect way to spend your day. I miss riding so much. I kept a beautiful chestnut Saddlebred for 17 years. Haven't been back in the saddle for four years, I suppose because I was so heart broken to lose her. A ride in the woods is absolutely the best therapy for stress... enjoy!
ReplyDeleteso beautiful + happy trails to you! xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
