We are now back from the south, but my head is still full of beautiful images. I particularly loved the gardens we saw, designed to encourage a very zen attitude. Soft colours, careful planting and a great deal of attention paid to pool design.
I am loving these toned down colours for pool and pool side. Turquoise can look harsh, these more natural shades just look elegant.
I also like the long narrow pool, not only practical for swimming lengths, but also so well adapted to sleek garden design.

That lawn looks expensive to water! Grass in Provence is definitely a luxury.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely pools.
Oh how I would love to be swimming in them right now - gorgoues, absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHeaven! How wonderful it would be to be relaxing by one of those gorgeous blue pools. Glad you enjoyed your trip South, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I esp. liked the 2nd picture!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! How relaxing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images, how I would love to be relaxing and enjoying the quiet. :)
ReplyDeleteYep, I agree with you and dream of having a bassin made of antique stone yet long enough for laps. But I would take a blow up kiddie pool today--hot, muggy and gray!
ReplyDeleteBon weekend...
Such beautiful pools. I love the one with the natural colours, as you've said, it's so elegant. I like the way it's integrated into the landscape.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Sharon! The narrow pool is divine. Painted dark, it would be more of a garden element like a rill or reflecting pool. Love the stone wall enclosure.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Loi
Just beautiful. I love the simplicity...so elegant!
ReplyDeleteSharon,
ReplyDeleteI think you would feel right at home in the Hamptons (not the UK, but NY!).
Glad you are enjoying summer!
Best, Stacey
Oh, Sharon...you might as well have been raised by my father. One of the few absolutely-declarative pieces of advice he ever gave me when I was young (actually, he gave it SEVERAL times) was "When it comes to horses, swimming pools, boats, and beach-houses.....don't ever have any. Make FRIENDS with folks who have them."
ReplyDeleteHis wise advice has saved me gazillions of dollars over my adult years.
Level Best as ever,

P.S. I'm aware that you've broken one of his four commandments. Just don't complain to him when the horsey-vet bills come rolling in....

So beautiful and inviting swimming pools. They look so natural, like part of the environment. I would love to dive in then hang out by the people. Bonne weekend!
ReplyDeleteHello Sharon
ReplyDeleteI love the long and narrow pool. It makes sense and does not take up the entire back yard.
Have a glorious weekend. The Olympic ceremonies are so spectacular. Wish I was in London

Simply gorgeous! We are wanting to resurface our pool to look more natural with the landscape so I really loved seeing this! Thanks for posting these beautiful pics!
ReplyDeleteI really like the last two best. I like the clean rectangular look with a simple stone border surrounded by grass. A very European look that we hope to carry over to our pool.
ReplyDeleteLove your decor and theme. Its great you have found a way to incorporate your look and style into the pool area.
ReplyDeleteWe had seen the most gorgeous, long narrow pool in Saignon several years ago. Can't remember the name of the hotel...but it was similar to that third image down. So peaceful and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThese are incredible pools, I particularly like the grey wooden decking. Really lends it a rustic aura, the designers of these pools are really a class above as swimming pool builders. They're artists.
ReplyDeleteThose are definitely beautiful and well-designed pools. What I love the most is the one on the second photo. The lush trees around makes its environment very refreshing and comforting. This is a great place for yoga. The fresh breeze will surely refresh your mind and soul. I would absolutely love to visit here some time.
ReplyDeleteThat is defiantly a spectacular swimming pool! I keep putting off getting one of my own. A friend recently had one installed by a one of the local austin pool comapnies here and he and his family just adore it.
ReplyDeleteBon vivant, Sharon=) If this is my home, I will take a deep breath, and say, “C’est La Vie”! You’ve got a good collection of pool photos here. Seems like you’ve been to really beautiful and luxurious places. The long narrow pool complements the green grass, and they both give a soothing effect to the eyes of the viewers. Thanks for posting. Everything here is fabulous! =) Keep us updated and captivated with awesome sights.
