Please bear with me if, today, I dust off my British passport, and salute HRH Elizabeth II
No matter what views are held and discussed about the usefulness of the
monarchy in the modern world, there is one thing that cannot be taken away from this lady;
her sense of duty and her 60 years of selfless and dignified service to her position.
.
To top it all she is a true horsewoman, and I am sure, a country girl at heart.
I send her my best wishes for a very happy Jubilee weekend.

she is classy elegant and truly a queen!!

I need to get caught up on the jubilee before i miss the pomp. It's the kind of stuff in the dreams of young girls
ReplyDeleteWhatever one might think about Monarchy etc...she is a LADY one can only respect!
ReplyDeleteOne can only admire & respect her! 60 years in a role she never chose, but which destiny chose for her...and I don't think she has ever faltered.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Jubilee weekend Sharon...

I think she's got a lot of pluck; I like her a lot. I'm intrigued with British royalty, and have been...ever since Prince Charles (just a few years older than I) was THE eligible bachelor, back in the (younger) day...and, of course, I was completely nuts over Diana back then, as she was such a breath of fresh air with, at least on the surface it seemed, fun and fashion. (I stayed up all night to watch her wedding on TV, as I did years later to watch her painfully-sad funeral/procession, crying a lot.) I thought it sweet how recently, as quoted on American TV and in U.S. magazines, Charles has referred to the Queen as his "mama" and his sons call her "Granny." They might live differently than the rest of us, but they're still real people. I rather love a monarchy!
ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying watching the news coverage and specials and in honor of the Jubilee just finished a great biography of the Queen. She is an impressive woman.
ReplyDeleteMonarchies are just as useful as any other kind of government. Besides, it is what the citizens of the United Kingdom, and may I add; other countries in northern Europe want. Queen Elizabeth has been a wonderful queen and has never let her side down, no matter what. She works hard; as promised, for her people.
ReplyDeleteAs a citizen of the Commonwealth, I'm proud to call Elizabeth II my queen, too. She is an inspiring woman, her sense of duty is astounding. I'm hoping to catch snippets of the celebration on television this weekend.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day, Sharon!
Sharon, I could not have said it better myself. I so enjoy "royal watching". I'm linking your post to Take Six's FB page so others can enjoy it!! Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteShe is Dignity Personified.
ReplyDeletePrince Charle's profile in his childhood pic above is EXACLTY the same profile as some when William was photographed with Princess Diana back in the day - the genetics are there. Looks at it closely, do you not agree?
Funny how genetics work like that so strongly.
I love that she still rides at her age! She is truly a woman of the century.

I also admire and have a great deal of respect for her. Long Live the Queen!
ReplyDelete"Long live the Queen"! Hear, hear.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a Commonwealth Country once a British Protectorate. The political winds of the time would blow here and there but one thing remained steady, the love and respect for Queen Elizabeth II. After so many years of living in another wonderful country which I love and loyal to, my heart still has a great fondness for the Queen.
ReplyDeleteLong live the Queen!
I think the Monarchy in England is so very intriguing......

Happy Jubilee!! ~Ashley
ReplyDeleteQuite a lady! My husband and I once watched a documentary about her life and how she became the queen, it was facinating! Quite a lady, indeed!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless The Queen! Happy Jubilee!xxpeggybraswelldesign.com
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't exactly have to do much for herself does she, doubt if she pulls her own pants up.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
DeleteLoved your tribute to the Queen...I have dear friends from Cossington, England and they are so excited about the Queen's Diamond Jubilee weekend. They made sure that I knew where to see coverage of the events. I will be watching the televised coverage tomorrow from the Deep Deep South with great admiration for the Queen! :))
ReplyDeleteShe does her duty with dignity. Love the first picture, notice her figure? A most amazing woman all told I think. I wish I could see the torches.
ReplyDeleteWe are love and live through fairytales...hers is real life and I say God bless her. Anyway, I love all the pomp and pageantry. Beautiful post as always!
