The world famous and very beauiful Mont St Michel, is about 4 hours west from us right on the border between Normandy and a beautiful area of France called Brittany.

If you have already explored the South of France, if you know Paris off by heart and have done the grand tour of Normandy, then Brittany could make an excellent choice for your next holiday in France
Brittany is natural, its beauty is rugged and untamed; its houses are built in old grey stone that reflect the moody skies and stunning coastline.
From the beautiful coastal towns like St Malo, to the tradtional towns and charming villages inland, there is much to see and do.
Brittany is kmom for its beautiful gardens, delicious seafood, large traditional markets and breathtaking scenery.
And where to stay in Brittany? Tomorrow I shall tell you about a stunning address; a 15th century property that has been restored from top to toe to create a luxury B&B that feels warm and welcoming ........
see you tomorrow for more!
all photos except the last one thanks to Google

The blues in your photos are breathtaking
ReplyDeleteBonjour.
ReplyDeleteI love Mon St Michel and the surrounding region, and your photos capture the mystery and the beauty of it well. Thank you for sharing. x
ReplyDeleteHello! Is it your house for rent? What are the prices?
ReplyDeleteIt's absolutely stunning to see these pictures from Brittany. The blue light is amazing. A most beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteOne of my big regrets when we were living in Paris is that I didn't get to see more of Bretagne. We did get to St. Malo but not much further. I do hope to see it some day! Looking forward to reading more...
ReplyDeleteHello to you from Central Brittany where we've lived for nearly nine years.
ReplyDeleteIf you look on my latest post you'll see lovely photographs of Dinan.
I also know exactly where you're going to in Brittany - friends of mine and such a wonderful place which I've featured a few times on Pilgrim and Pie.
Looking forward to seeing your post on this gem.
Diane.
Can't wait - we are visiting Normandy and some of this area in about two weeks - thanks for the heads up on how wonderful this area is!

ReplyDeleteDear Sharon,
ReplyDeleteThrough your blog, I am able to (almost) daily take a trip to France. I am an RN who works in a very busy long-term care facility. My working days are truly rewarding, but very hectic. When I "travel" with your blog my stress melts away as I view the French countryside, gardens and daily living. Thank you so very much!!!
Kind regards, Laura from Canada.
I love Mon St. Michel! We actually stayed overnight and had the best omelet for dinner. I'll never forget it.
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful blog is the first one I check every morning..Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness what a gorgeous place! The pictures re just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI am visiting in my head. Outstanding. I am rather stranded again this season but plan a quick trip to the beach in a few weeks, a family visit. Unfortunately, the scenery is not even a whisper close to this. Thank You.

It's perfect getting the insiders tips on where to explore. I want to take another trip to France to tour and Normandy is at the top of the list, so good to know the surrounding towns as well.
ReplyDeleteNow, I could live there!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place!!
ReplyDeleteBritagne is my favorite region in France, followed by Normandy. Provence is beautiful, of course, but so full of tourists and probably too similar to California in climate to feel foreign. Mont St Michel is wonderful, moules et frites, the villages... tout! There is a wonderful place we stayed in Cancale once, owned by Roellinger, can't remember the name. Gorgeous. We usually stay with our friends in Paimpol which is such a peaceful town.
ReplyDeleteYour painting of Brittany is so true ! I live in South of France and that's my preferred place to go for holidays, relaxing and having good air. It is not so touristic yet, and we appreciate very much. Stéphanie
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning images! This would be a gorgeous place to visit. Images #6 and 8 were enough to hook me!
ReplyDeleteI echo the comments from "Well Traveled" and that is your blog is the first thing I check in the morning...and then I check mine.
ReplyDeleteI love Mont. St. Michel! It is so beautiful! Of course I have never been anywhere in France that was not beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing such beautfful images!
I've only ever been to FRance once in my life when I was 14 years old - a long time ago:) Brittany does look attractive and I love that wonderful medieval street - that's the kind of place I'd love to explore. With all the places I want to visit and all the things I want to I need to live ( in good health of course) until I'm at least 110!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. The pictures are beautiful and it is quite a delight to roam through past entries. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWow,this Was really fascinating, and now I want to Go thereimmedeately.Beautiful nature and scenery, can't wait for your tips about where to stay!!Thanks for this beautiful and informative post:))))
ReplyDeleteTovehugs:)
There is only one word for this post and it's said with a long pause - 'sigh'! Your blog is truly inspirational. My sister and i dream over it constantly. i have been only to Paris twice but my sisters' honeymoon was a cycling trip around Brittany. we talk daily about going back.
ReplyDeleteOh my these pics bring back such wonderful memories. I love Brittany and especially loved Mont St Michelle. We spent a magical day there until we were forced to leave or spend the night and have our car flooded. LOL I love, love, love France. I told my husband if the world doesn't end Dec 21st, we are booking a trip back to France Dec 22d. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these pics...and memories.
So many beautiful places to see! Lovely, inviting photographs. I went to Mt. St. Michelle when I was nine years old and still have the gargoyle we purchased from a little shop there. Then we visited a farm in Normandy where my father camped during WWII and had a brandy with the son of the farmer, who remembered the Yank soldiers.
ReplyDeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteI live in Germany very near the French border and frequently take trips over the border. I took a trip to Normandy to visit the beaches and Sainte-Mère-Église in September 2010 and took a day to go over an see Mont St. Michel and went to Saint Malo. Loved it, St. Michel was beautiful but Saint Malo was gorgeous on a windy night watching the waves come in. After reading your post I went to rummage through my pictures again:) Cannot wait to go back.
So very interesting; what a treat! Thank you for an insider's travelogue. I've always, always wanted to visit this part of France. My uncle was in the D-Day invasion, although he scarcely would talk about it (U.S./American soldier) but, also, I took French class for six years in public school, age 12 thru 18, and we studied about these environs, and I totally remember reading so much about Mont St. Michel. In my 20s, I managed to get to the south of France/Provence, but my time in Paris was 'way too limited, so I shall dream of returning there, with side trips to your neck 'o the woods...someday!!
ReplyDeleteI have yet to scroll through all of your many posts over the recent years, being new to your blog, but I'm wondering/hoping if you've ever touched on the barge trips I've heard so much about, unless they're more central-France as opposed to north/northwest. I've also always wondered a lot about the Atlantic islands of Jersey and Guernsey. Can you share, if you haven't already, any info about these intriguing places? I love to read what you write!
ReplyDeleteMoody skies? You've been out of Britain for too long if you think the Breton skies are terribly moody. ;)
ReplyDeleteHaving lived in Scandinavia and northern Scotland before moving to Morbihan (granted, probably the best weather in Brittany), to me, Brittany is all sunshine, warmth and blue skies. We get more than one hour extra direct sunlight per day on average, having moved from Sweden, and less rain. And remember... en Bretagne, il ne pleut que sur les cons!
Thanks for reminding me how much I love this region....always a pleasure to read you.
