women in paris with their dogs and high heels

Today I bring you a little bit of whimsy to set you off for the weekend in the right frame of mind!

These delicious illustrations are by the talented French designer Izak Zenou, who has created his signature style,  specialising in fashion illustration.

I love the very Parisian feel to his drawings.   His women are tall, long legged and happy.  They float around in today's busy world looking happy and carefree, content to be beautiful.  And who has never wanted to do that?!

His pictures make me think of my girls, striding out confidently, having fun with their friends...., preferably in high heels and with a small dog in tow!  :)

But IZAK doesn't only illustrate, he has also designed a line of bags, scarves  and accessories for names such as Celine, Guerlain and La Samaritaine.  Today his products and artwork are available at the New York store Henri Bendel.

And the really cool thing is that you can get customised stationery using his artwork!  Party invitations, greeting cards, Izak's drawings carrying your message - wonderful!

Wishing you all a whimsical weekend, be it in Paris, New York, Budapest or
Sydney; let us walk as tall  as the girls drawn by Izak.

  1. Bonjour Sharon,
Elles ont vraiment des "longs legs" ces parisiennes !
J'aime bien la technique du dessin à l'aquarelle, c'est très vivant.

  4. Wow what an incredible talent. I love this illustrations......I could imagine a grouping of them in a ladies home office (hummm maybe MY home office) or a fashion oriented teenaged girls room. They are so whimsical and elegant. Thanks for the introduction Sharon!

  8. What cute illustrations. I can be found often with my dog in tow, but I don't generally walk her in high heels - with a 90lb german shepherd, I'm sure it's not recommended. :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Sharon.

  14. Dear Sharon,

Thanks for the entertaining post. It just occurred to me (and I've been enjoying your blog, with its particularly lovely and evocative photographs, for only a few months) that I should send give you (and by extension your readers) a picture in return.

Don't worry...it's not by me. It's one of the most delightful/funny things I've ever seen...an 18th century print of a haute bourgeoisie lady giddily engrossed in feeding tidbits to her tiny, pampered, white doggie.

Folks can go to the following link, send me an email, and I'll send them the jpeg for printing.

Last year, I had about ten of these made and framed for various friends (male and female) who could justifiably be accused of being overly solicitous of their dogs' moment-to-moment happiness. I should add that the first person to have gotten a print was me (I have a house full of little, white, west highland terriers).

  18. What a charming, whimsical way to end my work week and put me in just the right mood for the weekend. I was first introduced to Izak with Billy Joel's book "In a New York State of Mind" (http://www.amazon.com/York-State-Mind-Byron-Preiss/dp/0439553822#_) and love that this incredible artist can capture the heart of both of our cities so well. Have a lovely weekend, Cynthia
