A long walk is in order today, but besides that the first day of the new year is a day of reflection, of plans, of optimism and rest.
Here the morning is calm, the discussion gentle, a little light housework to be done by my daughter after her party :), there was a breakfast for 12 earlier on, a lunch en famille and after the walk it will be a book beside the fire for me.
I refuse to use the word resolutions, because I am notoriously bad at sticking to them, but I definitely like to think about directions, projects, hopes and desires.
Tomorrow I shall tell you more about my wishlist for 2012 ..... or maybe not.
Tomorrow is another day.
Tomorrow is another day.

Another day - another year!

Read you in 2012!

Nonne Annee! As you, I do not make resolutions that would not be kept but instead looking at this year as a new canvas. Waking up to a brisk cold sunny January 1st!
ReplyDeleteYour day sounds so perfect and so relaxing, just reading about me was a decompresser for me. Don't long walks just take away all the stresses? I took one with Teddy yesterday and I dont' remember being that relaxed in a looooong time.
ReplyDeleteWishing you lifes best in 2012!
I'm your newest follower! I can live one of my dreams, of being in France, through you and your gorgeous blog. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you think, Sharon! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHello Sharon
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on resolutions. I find when I speak of them, it gives too much energy and one may not always follow through. A list is good, it should be personal and worked on daily.
My best for a relexing evening (it is evening in France?)

Happy New Year!

I for one am glad 2011 is over. It has been a roller coaster ride for my husband & I. We're looking forward to what 2012 will bring. Like you, today is our down time. It's raining here so a walk may not be in the cards, but a book by the fire will certainly happen.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and yours a very Happy New Year.
Maybe the secret of happiness is living in the present, enjoying the moment, without focusing too much on elusive "resolutions"... because you are right, tomorrow is another day! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteSharon, I like that . . .hopes & desires for 2012.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
We are spending this first day in similar fashion.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a wonderful new year my friend.

Feliz Año Nuevo, besitos, Candice
ReplyDeleteWe are working on a Wish List right now .. it all has to do with homes and where they are :)
Sounds like a lovely day, and I love your alternative words to "resolutions". A much better idea!
ReplyDeleteA very bright and prosperous New Year to you!
Keri
Hope your New Year is amazing and those pictures are gorgeous!

Hi sharon,
ReplyDeleteVery refreshing words.........
I have enjoyed checking in on your blog, it is truly inspiring.
A walk I find replenishes the spirit......I walk with my dog on the beach every day and without it I loose clarity.....

Directions, projects, hopes and desires - much much better than resolutions. Today was a day for a family dinner, a long walk in the twilight and a cozy evening at home. Tomorrow I'll think about the future.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely, evoking the reflective nature of these quiet post-Christmas days.
I love your descriptives...resolutions just lead to disappointment! :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy New year!
Karen
Sharon,
ReplyDeleteI just want to thankyou sincerely for the happiness you bring into my life daily, all the way from your beautiful piece of paradise.
Your photos and writing always inspire, never disappoint, continually surprise and mostly just leave me feeling very blessed to have the chance (Thankyou iPad) to experience a slice of France I may never see, but feel I'm actually visiting.
What a wonderful gift to give us all.....Thankyou and I hope 2012 is especially good to you and yours.
