All over Normandy there are properties with old stone barns attached. We have one, our neighbours have two, across the road there is at least one more. Our barn above, is used to store hay, put away the bikes, hold parties for teenagers ... it's a pretty busy place, but sometimes barns are converted into living space, and here is a great example.
The beauty of this conversion to my mind is that they haven't gone rustic, the contrast between the modern lines, the comfortable furniture and beautiful design, simply makes it a great place to live without harping on about being a former barn.
These pictures are in my file now, just in case, one day .....
wishing you a great weekend full of projects and plans
thanks to art et decoration for the pictures

Fantastic conversions! I just love the juxtaposition of contemporary design in non pretentious rustic spaces.
ReplyDeleteWhile it's not to my tastes, it is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!

I love it. The architect did a wonderful job and enhanced the lines and diagonals.

I am quite lucky in that my partner is an estate agent in France.
ReplyDeleteI have to go along sometimes to hold the tape measure, so I get to see some fantastic conversions like this one. On the other side of the coin I also get to see the B&Q make-overs.
That's a lot of extra living space. What a great art studio the barn would make, too. I love the photos you have here. xo Jenny
ReplyDeleteSharon,
ReplyDeleteWhenever I drive by a barn here in the Midwest and it looks unused, visions start forming and I can see a fabulous living space!! Great images!

Former farm dahhling? You would have to have a photo of the outside to know you were in a barn! How FAB!
ReplyDeletein a word ... FAB
ReplyDeleteThey are in my file too and I don't even have a barn! That is without a doubt the most livable conversion of its type that I have ever seen. I love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, I always look forward to your blog, and getting acquainted with your many followers! I thought of you today when I did a post on equestrian art, as you are a horse person. Enjoy your weekend in beautiful France. We just received 60cm of snow...ps will be posting Monday about the horses "antics" in the snow:)

Oh that is just lovely. Have seen many French barn conversions but few this good.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child I read a book about a family that converted a barn into a home. I've always thought it the most romantic thing to do. Lovely photos of a dream come to fruition.
