This year's Christmas decorations are going to be largely silver and white, with a total absence of red, a new idea in this house, so I hope the children approve!
I've been fortunate to find some beautiful old 'pampilles' or crystal tears, and I'll be using as many as possible on our Christmas tree. The larger pampilles with the additional rosace and tiny crystal bead on the top look beautiful strung from a simple ribbon.
There's no comparison between crystal and glass in the way it catches and reflects the light.

I could give myself a compliment like "great minds..." because this is what I do every year. It is just so pretty that I never want to do anything else! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy decorating...not anywhere even close to doing so myself so this post is a good inspiration to get out the pampille box!
Your tree would be stunning. I would love to copy this idea, but pampilles are difficult to find here, and as you said, glass is just not the same. Bisous.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful!

Love it and love the light they create - how magical.

I am doing the same thing this year - no red, and the only green will be live greenery. I went through all of my ornaments and picked out just the white and silver.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteStunning and elegant........ what a beautiful tree it will be. You have just sent many people off to antique shops to find pampilles and ribbon.

ReplyDeleteI think it's a wonderful idea. Can't wait to see the pictures with the crystals reflecting the candlelight.
ReplyDeleteCrystal beauty! I like that idea. Eager to see your tree.

Sounds beautiful. What a clever way to decorate the tree. Can't wait to see what it looks like! XO
ReplyDeleteThose will catch the light and glisten...clever you to have planned ahead and collected them before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll show an image of the tree when it's done.
They're beautiful! Your tree will look like the ones outside my window here in Minnesota - all sparkling and icy after the first real snowfall.
ReplyDeleteGreetings everyone from the Amish community of Lebanon,pa
ReplyDeleteI switched to a blue and white with hints of apple green colored Christmas scheme for the holidays about 6 years ago. My children did protest! So I gave them the option of doing the red and green thing(tree and all) in their kid family room in the basement. I love moving beyond red and green- the softer palates work beautifully during the holidays...
ReplyDeleteThat will look so magical, bit like fairyland !

ReplyDeleteSo lovely, the simplicity of silver and crystal...all that sparkles at Christmas.

Quant le cristal reflete sa valeur,la chaleur de sa fusion entre en action, par sa beauté, sa fragilité et sa transparence. C'il vient de Baccarat, c'est le département voisin.JJM
ReplyDeleteI have just a few crystal pampilles and love the way they catch the light. I'm always on the look out for more. Your tree will be lovely.
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea - I have some extra crystals hanging out in a drawer. I am going to do this today.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Linda
PS - again, after reading your posts, I say to myself - why didn't I think of that!
