Every year I make a wreath to hang on our front door in the first week of December. Last year it was mainly holly, the year before box with apples and silver balls. This year I'm looking for ideas for a simple and natural looking wreath.
Actually our main entrance is a sort of double door, so a large wreath hung centrally is tricky. Maybe I'll go for two symmetrical and identical smaller versions.
What do you think of these ideas, found all over the net and stashed away, please forgive the lack of credits, I seem to have lost the links!
I love these ideas from the French Marie Claire magazine. Lots of wreaths used on the same wall, or a big one decorated with lichis!!
What do you like to put on your front door to welcome Christmas guests?
I'm sure you could give me some good ideas

Love the wreaths.....i've been on the hunt for a wonderful fall wreath and they are very difficult to find!
ReplyDeleteSo many beauties, I love the first one from Marie Claire, tend to favor a more natural look with an abundance of pine cones and berries, maybe some fruit. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteThese would all do well for me this year. I am going simple and traditional. I'm doing mine this week too. I plan to make something large, simple and fresh for my kitchen. Please post yours when done ? Wpuld love to see it :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not very crafty so I have been looking for something simple and natural. These are just beautiful!

Having had a "duckegg blue" front door in England which was a dream for hanging wreaths on, I now find myself with haussemanian double entry doors to our apartment painted in a typical french 'dark brown'. I cannot extricate myself from the wreath hanging business so to counter the gloomy door and gloomy light of the stairwell, I am going to try something with lots of red berries, silvery leaves and ideally misletoe to brighten it. Please post your final version!
ReplyDeleteI love the wreaths, can't say which the most. They all are beautiful!

They're all so beautiful and I love the idea of two wreaths for your double doors (I'm big on symmetry.)
ReplyDeleteThe first wreath is spectacular!
I am partial to the 9th wreath. I like the simplicity and rustic look of it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can go wrong with any of these wreaths. I agree hanging double wreaths will be double the beauty. I just have a simple gathering of different greens tied together on my front door. For some reason I don't care for bows. Right next to the door I have an old beat up sled painted white propped up with very old little boy ice hockey skates with greens and rose hip tucked in them. I can't wait to see your results!

S, after the crazy holiday here with many details in the way, I got a chance to catch up with your blog. Such a warm creative vibe comes through - just what I needed. I love each and every post! - thank you.
ReplyDeleteI love the wreath hanging on the chair! Such a fun and whimsical way to welcome guests. Will you please post what you end up making? I would love to see it! Merry, merry!
ReplyDeleteI have some sage in the garden I've been meaning to cut and dry, now I'm wondering about incorporating it into a small wreath for inside the house. You've got me thinking...

I like the ones with the red berries! Sadly, I have a barb red front door and they won't work for me.
ReplyDeleteLove all of the wreaths! I have seen, on a double door situation...two half-wreaths, appearing to be one with the doors closed. It is especially effective if a little larger than usual. Can't wait to see your finished project!
ReplyDeleteSince all my friends and neighbors know I am French, I am thinking of a great big Eiffel Tower made of evergreen branches... It would not twinkle every hour on the hour like the original one but why not? -- Great post. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
ReplyDeleteAll of these wreathes are lovely. I'm especially fond of the more natural berry-laden twig wreathes, but you can never go wrong with a fragrant fir wreath. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

All so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCes couronnes naturelles sont toutes aussi jolies les unes que les autres et il me serait bien difficile d'en choisir une spécialement ...
ReplyDeleteLa nature est tellement généreuse !
Belle soirée.
Great examples. I am thinking of a swag this year...or magnolia leaves...we have a new Dutch door (like you?) and I hate to scratch it. It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Fun post.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I saw that first square wreathe picture on my side-bar today, in the list of blogs I follow, and I am OBSESSED! I really need to make a square wreathe now. So modern!
ReplyDeleteyes, two wreaths and the berries look so bright and cheery (cherry?) I would opt for them
ReplyDeleteI personally particularly like the first one. There is something about that lime green color that just speaks to me and it just pops. Definitely need two for double doors and I love the ribbon that looks like red burlap???? but I would definitely hang the streamers much longer. All of these wreaths are gorgeous so you can't go wrong with any of these choices. I look forward to seeing what you decided upon.

Third from the bottom is my favourite Sharon... I love wreaths that have a wildness and informality to them... xv
ReplyDeleteLove the simple, pretty rosemary wreath! You could make two smaller ones and greet guests with beautiful fragrance.
ReplyDeleteI'm hanging fresh spruce wreaths in my windows this year instead of having a Christmas tree. The battery-operated lights I bought to light them up aren't working, so I'm looking for other options for lighting them.
Well, you've got me thinking now! but you've inspired me… that's a good start.

Fun choices among the images! We don't put a wreath on our front door, but I often hang one inside on the dining room windows. I like wreaths made with natural elements - greens or berries or both. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWelcome to HFTS. Thanks for joining as a new follower. ~ Sarah
Double door? Why not 2 big half circles with ribbons on each side at the top join.
ReplyDeleteI feel inspired dahhling after looking at all the fotos of beautiful wreaths...
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon thanks for your warm welcome-back words...as for the wreaths I love the one with the berries, actually I love them all..
