Have you ever walked down a street in Paris, wondering what was the other side of those imposing façades and wide coach entrances. The secret side of Paris, the intimate side normally own seen by those who live there. Square pavés or cobblestone, plants cared for by the concierge, inward gazing windows. Quiet places, strangely silent and empty after the bustle of the street outside the door. A place to park your bike, feed a cat, enjoy a little green, some extra space. Thought you might like a glimpse .

Ah, enchanting as ever!
ReplyDeleteSublime thank you
ReplyDeleteBliss! I love these intimate, hidden away corners of Paris! x
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Sharon I may just be tempted to leave the wilds of the Adelaide Hills for one of these beauties!

I love that word: "Courtyard." Sounds so snug and safe and lovely.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what country you are in a courtyard is a special place.
ReplyDeleteBonjour Sharon, je n'arrive pas à t'envoyer de mails, ils me reviennent tous, je vais les imprimer et te les déposer dans ta boite aux lettres.

I love peaking through those big imposing doors and seeing the private, magical courtyard within. The last time we were in Paris, we rented an apartment. Opening our door, and stepping into our own courtyard made us feel much more like true Parisians.
ReplyDeletecomplimenti per il tuo bel blog!
ReplyDeleteciao Claudia
How wonderful! Thanks for this nice post!

This is really nice. Little hideaways and obscure gardens are always wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove Court yards! When we renovated, the house got turned around completely and I opted for court yards wherever possible, no less than six! I love how one enters through a door or gate and there is a surprise on the other side..you gave me an idea for future posts....on my courtyards.xo Col
ReplyDeleteI certainly love these well-kept French court yards!
ReplyDeleteBut in general I love courtyards, they can give such a good background for any kind of planting design.
And - my favorite ones are real oldfashion "Hinterhoefe", just charming and very often full of daily lifes history.
Lovely images! k
Courtyards have an air of privacy and mystery about them that is irresistible. These are lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these. When we were in Paris in 2004 and 2008 I would walk by the open gates, carriage doors etc and I would catch a glimpse of the potted plantings and was so intrigued, I even photographed what I could from the doorway.
ReplyDeleteLove these pictures. I wish I had taken them! I miss France. We were there in May and I want to go back!
ReplyDeleteLove them! Beautiful pictures as usual.
ReplyDeleteThese private spaces are so beautiful, as are the wonderful large windows you've shown. Good luck with your server!

So pretty. and lush. and the perfect place to escape the summer heat if one lives in an apartment... When I was staying in St Germain I would spy on a similar courtyard near my hotel..
ReplyDeleteHope your server is behaving today!!! Have a good one.. ciao xxx Julie
A very cool post! I especially love that first sneaky pic.
