mon bouquet du jour

Sometimes I enjoy the making-of the bouquet even more than the finished result. This was put together quickly one evening a couple of weeks ago, when the garden was at its best and giving generously.

I'm not sure if everyone is going to like this one, not very structured, rather busy, but at the time it just seemed gloriously lush, if rather difficult to capture on film!

As I walked around the garden finding suitable flowers for my vase, I carried them in an old wooden trug.  If there had been a way of keeping them in water in the trug, they wouldn't even have been transferred to a vase.

This bouquet was definitely as much about texture and contrast as simple colour and pretty flowers.

If you haven't entered the grain sack giveaway yet, there's still time!

  6. A beautiful bouquet. I can identify most of the flowers but am curious about the gorgeous white spray in the foreground. Looks like Ixora? Lovely way to start the week. ;)Sharyne

  14. It is worth finding a shallow container for the trudge and fill it with water or oasis. The wood is a lovely juxtaposition of rustic with the beauty of the flowers. A winning combination.

I always love flowers arranged in baskets.

Those fat buds of "Love in a Mist" just bursting to flower are exquisite!

Wonderful photos and they help me to remember summer!

  23. I'd say you should look for a water-proof trug at your next brocante adventure! I love the look you created both in the trug and in the vase. Gorgeous.

  24. Sharon, that bouquet is beautiful! Also loved it in the trug. I have a wooden container that I use and found a vase that would fit down inside and no one would know that the arrangement had not been done in the wooden box.

Love that arrangement in your header! I just know you created that as well.

Leaving for England with Debra Phillips next month.................next year I hear we may be visiting you!!
