I was asked this week what I like about living in our old French home,
it got me thinking ..... the pleasure is in the details
it got me thinking ..... the pleasure is in the details
Each day here I savour the ....
porcelain door handles, smooth to the touch
double opening front doors that feel so welcoming
log fires in our sitting room and dining room
slate roof on our barn
breakfasts on our terrace
tiles on my garden wall
little potager to tend
wisteria growing around my windows
What's at the top of your list of favourite spots in your home?

Beautiful!!

All those things and more friends, family, laughter, sunshine, and a big essential is the memories. How precious and few and how wonderful.

The house isn't the most important point!
ReplyDeleteThe people, who live in it ...
I like your home and I like my home, because it's grown up with me and my family!
Salut!

Living in the small Swiss village of Auvernier is second only to our dream of retiring in France... for now we are over the moon with our 1610 maison vigneronne overlooking the vines & sunflower field. I do feel as though I should pinch myself every morning when my children scamper down the cobblestone road to school (less so when they come home a few short hours later for lunch!) Coming from a 1950's New England cape, I found myself a bit over my head and was so thankful for a home full of furniture my husband's family graciously gave us as they emptied his grandparent's Norman farmhouse (I regret we couldn't move in there every day, but alas, il faut pouvoir gagner des sous quand même!) And my husband's job brought us here. I've taken so much inspiration from your blog & lovely life and look forward to new posts!

ReplyDeleteStunning in every sense. Since we are not yet in our new home, I cannot say which is my favorite but so far, it would be the breakfast room, covered loggia and family room/kitchen. Perhaps its no coincidence that these will be the first parts that will be done in completion but they are beautiful and inviting spaces! Yours are truly breathtaking and a delight for every sense!

my fireplace. I spent last winter with no furnace or fireplace..only space heaters. It was rough!
ReplyDeleteWe couldn't keep our house so while i was looking for a place i looked in the window and saw the fireplace and said: welp that"s it, i'll take it. I am thankful I have a home. HOWEVER......When i win the lottery I will be asking you to come look at yours because that's what i will build as close to yours as i can. :) Love all of it.
Absolutely divine!!!! What a beautiful home!!! My favourite spots in our home: in the winter eating breakfast in the kitchen by the open fire, in the summer the view from our bedroom looking over the old apple tree filled with honeysuckle! Hugs from a 500 year old farmhouse in England filled with French bocante!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteSuch loveliness! I feel like I'm looking at paintings or postcards, it's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteEverything about your home would be my favorite! Such charm, interest, history.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite parts of my home:
• my huge, Fire King Jadeite-filled kitchen
• the big, cast iron claw foot tub in my white bathroom
• my porch with its comfy wicker chairs
• my bedroom, which opens to my writing office via French doors
