We have a lot of books in our house. We read a lot and we like to re-read so we keep them.
We are comfortable with that.
Many people shy away from full book shelves. Dusty, untidy, unfashionable? Different reasons maybe.
How about you? Are you more books on shelves, or books piled on tables?
Would you enjoy any of these reading rooms?

KEEP. Books are treasures, can be shared, re-visited and sometimes I give one of my favourites to someone special as a gift. Keep and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a library/dining room so I love the first photo. Even with a Kindle, I still prefer to read actual books.
ReplyDeleteShot one looks mega tempting. I wonder what titles are on those shelves.
ReplyDelete"No furniture so charming as books" I hope it never gets to a time when books are old fashioned. Our home is over run with them.
I'm a keeper, I'm a re-reader ... there's never enough bookcases at home. I could live with any of the three first photographs, the prize tough would have to go to number 3.
ReplyDeleteWe have bookshelves in almost every room of the house. I love books. And I re-read them. I love the first photo - I could spend days there.
ReplyDeleteThat first photo is my favorite. I have bookshelves filled with books throughout my house. And that's just the way we love to live, as well.
ReplyDeleteWe do love us our books. That might explain my career as a writer and librarian :)
ReplyDeleteWe keep nonfiction we've read, and prefer to give away fiction, and if we can't find a taker, we take a box to the used book store and get credits to buy ... more books.
i love books too.....can't buy a kindle or an e-reader because it isn't the same as curling up with a real book and taking in the smell of the ink and the sight of the font..just an old fashioned girl (?) lol with a love for reading...love the first photo also.....
ReplyDeleteLa première photo est ma préféré, A la maison il y a des livres partout,
ReplyDeleteBonne soirée
Jérôme
We have more books than any other one item.
ReplyDeleteMy blog post entitled "Books, Books, Books" dated Jan. 26, 2010, shows a few.

Have a great week
I covet the first one, but despite some beautiful bookshelves my brother built for me, my home most often looks like the one with PILES and PILES of books on the coffee table, the floor...
ReplyDeleteI lOVE Lots of books but, really miss your fair adventures!!! tell is more about your day today at the fair!
ReplyDeleteOh, the first one looks so inviting! We have book cases all over the house, but I keep all my French books in the huge antique armoire that holds our TV. When I'm bored with the boob tube I just let my eyes run over the lovely titles on the book spines...And usually I have one open on my lap, as well.
ReplyDeleteWe have bookshelves built in half the rooms in our home and we love books, the more the better. We too like to re-read books and there's nothing like a summers day reading in the shade. Wonderful post Sharon.
ReplyDeleteI love them all.....I truly believe, one can never have enough books!

I could move into the first picture! It feels like home to me.
ReplyDeleteReading room no. three is where I could spend an entire day.....sitting in a comfortable armchair in the filtered sunlight....quiet & secluded....lost in a book & enjoying a good coffee!
ReplyDeleteHo!
ReplyDeleteThere are books on shelves two deep, books on tables, chair seats, one of the raised hearths, and stacked in artful (I hope!) piles on the floor under a sofa table, in baskets on the porch...books everywhere. Including the "boot" of my buggy.
I could be deliriously happy in room # 1 or 3.
Lovely post, and your weekend in England looked marvelous too.
I like the second room most!
ReplyDeleteI like the combination of reading and living and eating!
:-)
Salut!
Franka
Books are everywhere in our home...both my husband and I are avid readers...piled high on tables and even on the floor I am embarrassed to say! The photo of the first room is my fav!

I love to read. I see books as friends. You can pass many an hour curled up with a book slowly getting to know the characters. You're with them through the journey, living with the highs and the lows of their life. Every time I re-read a book, it's wonderful to have these people around me again.
