my blacksmith

Had to pay tribute to the skills and dedication of our blacksmiths.  Without them our horses would not be as happy and healthy as we like them to be.  'Le Marechal' and his boys turn up here every two months, whatever the weather and just get on with the job; perfectionist, not happy until the hooves are right.

Let's hear it for artisan skills, that need physical strength, a kind heart and a clear head!

  1. A kind heart and a clear head indeed! Pedi's for horses are not an task for the weak. Good looking horse. Enjoy the ride.

  2. Das ist doch was wir alle haben sollten:
Ein gutes Herz und einen klaren Kopf!

  3. Great photos and the right horse shoes are completely necessary for a happy and healthy horse.

  4. My Grandfather was also a "maréchal ferrant"! I still have a couple of nails as a reminder. Thank you for those pictures, he died when I was fairly young, this gives me a great idea of what he used to do! (This was just one of three jobs he kept to feed sixteen children!)
