When I first saw pictures of this beautiful room in an 'hotel particulier', the light and muted colours just took my breath away. Makes me long to unclutter, tone down and generally streamline my house life! !
Take a close look at the patina on the walls, I'm not convinced that even the most clever artist could achieve this look, just the right dose of superimposed and flaking paint - love it!
The overall effect is enhanced by the light streaming through the windows and the lack of furniture, I would happily pass a little time here....

So elegant and chic!
ReplyDeleteThe light, the spare elegance, the patina - OUI, OUI, OUI!
ReplyDeleteAnd the wood parquet floors contribute to the room's perfect-ness.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right, Sharon. It would be challenging for a decorative painter to really get it to that aged patina. We can get close, but not 100% unless you have a long period of time to work on it. I'd love to be able to go up and touch/examine those walls!
I'm with you Ann, as a decorative artist it would be hard to duplicate exactly but I'd love to see it in person and I'm certainly going to try to come as close as possible. Getting the base color is key, that lovely grey, brown, taupe. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful finish.
This is gorgeous Sharon.. loving it all.. and love love parquetry floors.. think that is left over from childhood somehow.. I'm trying to streamline things my way too.. as much as I love colour.. I like to change things around and get tired of strong colours quickly.. in my home that is..
ReplyDeleteOk.. have a great Friday.. I know the world has gone bonkers over the wedding.. Sadly my tv has gone bonkers too.. ciao ciao xxx Julie
So stunning, it makes me want to cry! Hope your weekend is just as beautiful! XO

Breathtaking is right.......just bare with nothing in the room works for me!
ReplyDeleteOh Sharon, these rooms are unbelievable. They speak for themselves and so not require lots of adornment.
ReplyDeleteAll it needs is 5 harps and 3 cats and I'd move in today!
ReplyDeleteSharon, so fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteIt has been quite the Royal day! Have a great weekend.
