Still thinking about my monogrammes. What a shame I'm not clever enough to re-upholster a little bijoux like this sweet canapé found at Baucis et Philemone. Some people are so talented. SIGH! ...

Never met a monogram I didn't like:) That is seriously adorable, delicate, pretty and feminine! Love it....I don't think there is an item of furniture that a monogram doesn't look great on!
ReplyDeleteI love this - so pretty! What a lovely shape for a settee :)
ReplyDeleteThis is just gorgeous. I love monograms and yet I don't have any. How strange is that. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteNow that is a good idea! Not quite so obvious and will bring a few smiles.
ReplyDeleteCute little piece. I wish I had the patience and skill to do upholstering.
I love the shape and colour of that "little bijoux".
ReplyDeleteNow, I could never do such a beautiful job at upholstering and wouldn't even attempt it.
You wouldn't want to see the mess I can make with material. ;-)
That canape is fabulous...why don't you simply dye your linen sheets if you want that color...go for it!
ReplyDeleteI have tea napkins monogrammed and one slip covered chair but oh how I wish I had more.

The truth is that reupholstering is not difficult - time consuming and exacting, but not difficult. I taught myself some years ago. If you find a piece that you really want to do, get a how-to book and then just do it. You need to start at the back and take off each piece carefully so that you can use it as the pattern for the new piece. Keep track of the order in which you take them off and then just reverse the process. Ok, you do need to do a bit of spoofing up of the padding and the webbing, but it's really not hard!
ReplyDeleteNo way. That is so beautiful. I've never liked the American term "love seat" for a settee, but with monogrammed initials telling me where (and how close) to sit next to my sweetie, I might change my mind.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely! Maybe if I monogram my chairs my cats will allow me to sit on them. Probably not!
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say but DIVINE! I love what Amy had to say about it.It would actually make a great wedding / anniversary present! xxIris
ReplyDeleteIs that gray canapé reupholstered in charcoal linen? If so, I would scream with delight if I saw it in person!
ReplyDeleteAnd the placement of that monogram is an excellent idea.
Bonne semaine,
Mandy
Oh, so many wonderful looks when old monogramed linens are used. One of my souvenirs from a French market is a lampshade made of a monogramed linen. Love the term canapé for this little love seat. ~ sarah
