Roads were cleared of snow today and I was able to get out again and do some more of my - already very late - Christmas shopping. I could have gone to Paris, but chose to go the slightly closer and smaller city of Rouen. Good shops, great architecture, friendly people.
Bought some roses for the house then wished
I had bought this stunning bowl of hellebore.
Longed to still be the right age and shape to wear this little
beige outfit - going back with my daughter tomorrow .....
- I know, I know, it's called dressing vicariously, but
at least I'm brave enough to admit it!
Found a lovely new shop called Initiales where the sweetest
lady took the time to gift wrap a cadeau I bought. I love
the way they do this in France, makes everything look so special.
Where's your favourite place to do your holiday shopping?

You have bought lovely memories back to me of when we had our house in Normandy, we loved Christmas shopping in Rouen, with the Ice Ring and Christmas market outside the Cathedral. But now I love Bath or Winchester both lovely cities.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your shopping.

Such a beautiful town to shop in and I think you would look marvelous in the pretty outfit.
ReplyDeleteI am partial to shopping in Chicago, of course. Especially at Christmas.

Love your blog and love to dress vicariously through my 20-something daughters....such fun!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful holiday .....love to shop in NY, but equally enjoy small towns in New England with lovely small shops.
xx, Michelle
Such a beautiful place to shop! I like shopping in downtown Victoria but don't get there very often. Small shops, friendly owners, unique items - these are the things that make shopping a pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI love that bowl of helleborus. And you could plant them in your garden when they are finished blooming.
ReplyDeleteI love shopping in the many places we visit. Those purchases always bring back many wonderful memories
Dearest Sharon,
ReplyDeleteYep, those Helleborus are THE Christmas Rose... But you will have access to some other ones!
My favorite place to do the holiday shopping? In Singapore and Jakarta, Indonesia... Miss the time that we lived there for the holidays included. Since living in the tropics it is hard to live through a kind of winter; though not a real harsh one here but not GREEN.
Have a Merry Christmas and enjoy the coming days too...

Good morning Sharon!
ReplyDeleteAre you there buying those beautiful clothes for you daughter now??
Oh, wow, so many wonderful shops there.
I would like to have that hellebore bowl, me too. I've never had Hellebore but I like them so much!
I shop both on line for difficult to find items and in small shops in the near little city of Biella.
I wish we could do some shopping together...maybe...one day!

I have just been catching up with your last few posts. Magical indeed is the perfect word to describe the lovely snow pictures. I also really enjoyed the little shopping trip in Paris. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had shops like yours where I live but living out in the country literally the middle of nowhere the internet has become my place to go. Love the short dress on the left, go for it Sharon!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge shopper. However I would love to stroll the streets you showed here! We have a large antique mall in a nearby small town. It's in an old building. I DO enjoy strolling through it, seeing the vignettes, etc. A quaint general store is around the corner from it. Candies, coffee, and unique gift items make it an interesting stop, too.
ReplyDeleteSharon~Love your post today! These shops look lovely to enjoy an afternoon enjoying the spirit of Christmas! I just went on Sunday to a wonderful antique mall deep in the country of Maryland and bought lots of antique glass ornaments!! Many are for gifts and a couple to keep for our tree. ;} Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteOh to shop with you in Rouen!!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing.
I can't believe Christmas is days away now!!
Bring it on :)
Oh and get that dress, I know you would look fab, Miss Humble :)
XO
Hello Sharon,
ReplyDeletePlease go back and spoil yourself with that lovely bowl filled with the hellebores..
thank you for sharing these lovely images..
I enjoy shopping in our little village -and admit to be sort of organised about the gifts in time..well mostly. shopping in and around our village-Stellenbosch is much quieter then the mad rush of CAPE TOWN CITY.
best wishes

Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeleteI love love LOVE your blog! Those beautiful hellebores are SO fitting for the holiday! My favorite winter/Christmas flower is the paperwhite! So simple, clean, and smells unlike anything else.
Merry Christmas!
Alexis
Happy Renovations
My favorite shopping places are (back home) NYC, Paris or London.
ReplyDeleteI actually find shopping here in BA to be tiresome.
If they would let Pup fly in the plane with me, we would have gone to NY for Christmas, that would have been perfect.
